If you are interested to know more about Crimean history, the best choice will be Bakhchisaray, the former capital of Crimean Khanate, the most popular tourist attraction in Crimea. There are many showplaces in its surroundings including ruins of mediaeval Chufut-Kale, Eski-Kermen cave towns, working Uspensky Cave Monastery that is more than 150 years old. You can visit world-famous monument under YUNESCO safeguard, ruins of Khersones. It is from the Khersones Tavrichesky that pagan Rus started accepting Orthodoxy. Khersones is the ancient city that started in 5th century B.C. and continued till 15th century A.D., so it is more than 2500 years old. Within the Khersones conservation area one can find museum of history and archeology.
